What is Orgasmic Disorder?

The absence of sexual orgasm despite sufficiently long & intense sexual stimulation. It is believed that approximate 50% of healthy females never ever have orgasm in their lives. The interpretation of feelings of orgasm is very subjective, so it is not surprised that some females do not realized they have had orgasm. Nevertheless, women still report the closeness with the partners, even though they do not have orgasm. Moreover, females are more likely to have orgasm if they are more familiar with their bodies.

  • Anorgasmia (never have an orgasm)

  • Infrequent or requiring specific conditions for orgasm

  • Orgasmic disorders are often comorbid with desire and sexual compulsion/addiction.

Causes of Orgasmic Disorder

1. Poor sexual communication & relationship issues

2. Psychological impact: Anxiety, depression and life stress, traumatic experience about sex, being taught that sex is immoral, and focus on orgasm too much. These above factors would make women unable to experience orgasm

3. Medical conditions: high blood pressure, diabetes, spinal cord injury and anti-depression medication may prevent women from experiencing orgasm. These medication conditions and medication may also prevent women who had orgasm previously from having orgasm now. It’s important to talk to the doctor.
